BEST PRODUCTS FOR LOW DENSITY NATURAL HAIR

GET THE VOLUME AND DEFINITION YOU'VE ALWAYS WANTED

Low density hair is simply someone without a lot of hair on their head. They can have thin or thick strands, just not a lot of them. How you can tell you have low density hair is straightforward, when your hair is wet and you can see your scalp, your hair is low density. Also, you can put all of your hair into a ponytail and if the circumference of the ponytail is less than an inch, that also indicates low density hair.

When your hair doesn't have a lot of density, then you want to look for lighter products that won't weigh your hair down. Low density hair tends to absorb products quickly. You want to look for products that have a high liquid content and less oils and butters. Below are the products we recommend for anyone who has low density hair.

WHERE DO YOU START?

With low density hair, you always want to start with freshly shampoo'd hair. Product build-up can cause your hair to be weighed down, and when strands aren't as plenty as our high density counterparts, this can be detrimental to our hair. Product build-up will keep our curls from looking fuller, but can also make our hair dry. When hair is excessively dry, it will cause our hair to become brittle and break off. Something, we low density folks can't afford.

Our Charcoal Shampoo Bar helps to remove product build-up without stripping your hair of its natural oils. You always want to follow-up any shampoo with a good deep conditioning treatment. Our Restoring Hair Treatment is the perfect conditioner that is emollient rich to help infuse moisture back into the hair, but rinses clean off so your hair doesn't feel greasy.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT MOISTURIZER

Ensuring the right amount of hydration is paramount to maintaining the health of your hair. When your hair is on the low porosity side, you want to make sure you're not using products that might be too heavy for your strands.

If your curls are on the looser side, think 3A/3B, then you might want to get the Get Slick Hair Smoothie. This light, cream oil moisturizer doesn't weigh hair down, but will help keep your hair hydrated and frizz at bay. However, if your hair is prone to dryness, is curls are tighter, then you might want to get the Moisturizing Hair Pudding. Our Pudding is like your Liquid Oil Cream all in one jar. This cream pudding contains castor oil and shea butter to keep moisture in. A little goes a long way with this product.
