4 ways you can moisturize your hair in the winter

4 Ways You Can Get Moisture in Your Hair in the Winter

Winter time can be a season of both great joy and frustration for us curlies. On the one hand, it’s no longer humid and frizzing isn’t as much of an issue as it is during the summer season. However, it can become so dry outside that the air will actually suck the moisture right out of your hair, literally, leaving your hair super dry and brittle. There are some tricks to what you can do to save your locks from drying out during these months and even have soft, moisturized hair that is the envy of all.

1. Deep Condition

This is a very important step for any texture hair, but it’s especially important for us curlies. Since our hair tends to get dry and brittle, deep conditioning in the winter is paramount.  You can learn everything you need to know about deep conditioning here. Try our Restoring Hair Treatment. This deep conditioner has oils and butters that will penetrate deep into the cuticle as well as moisturize each strand.

2. Steam

Steaming your hair is a great way to get water back into your hair without having to wet your hair. You can invest in a full head steamer (which is also great for enhancing your deep conditioning treatment) or get a hand-held steamer.

3. Use Creams

Dry air in the winter can suck the moisture right out of your hair. A heavier cream such as our Sealing Hair Butter in your hair along with a good leave-in conditioner will keep moisture where you want it, in your hair!

4. Add Moisture

Applying a leave-in conditioner like Get Slick Hair Smoothie to your hair at night will replenish the moisture that you may have lost in your hair at night. Doing a dry twist-out or braid-out will bring life back to your hair style.
